Every year, the citizens of Amsterdam and visitors from all walks of life come together on May 5th during the “Vrijheidsmaaltijd” (Freedom meal) to share stories about their freedom and celebrate the Dutch Liberation Day.
This year’s theme “Amsterdam Family” is about believing in connection, despite the many differences within the city. Every day you meet your neighbours in the street, you share a tram or bus together or you see each other in the supermarket around the corner. Amsterdam is a city with more different nationalities than any other city. It is a city where everyone; from poor to rich, from orthodox to liberal, shares and makes the city of Amsterdam. Amsterdam connects its citizens; together they are “Amsterdam Family”. What better day to celebrate that connection than on May 5th, Liberation Day?
For this special occasion, Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam will organise a unique Freedom Dinner. During a three-course dinner with accompanying wines, several renowned writers will recite a short story about the theme ‘Hero’s’. The evening will be presented by Marjoleine Oppenheim of the “Literaire Karavaan” and supported by guitar music.
The Freedom Dinner is perfect occasion to get together and celebrate our freedom! Please do not wait too long to secure your seat, since places are limited. Enjoy this special Freedom Dinner for € 49,50 per person.
